beautiful nerdy facts

  • Its name refers to the state of Coahuila in Mexico, where it was found in the early 2000s.

  •  Lived during the Late Cretaceous.

  • Had the largest horns of any ceratopsid and maybe any dinosaurs known. Up to 3.9 ft (1.2 m) long! 😍

  • Was the size of a rhino and weighed 5 tons 🦏

  • Had a 5.9 ft (1.8 m) long skull 💀

  • Only one specimen has been found.

  • Coahuilaceratops had a rounded nose horn, not seen before in another ceratopsid.

  • Used its horns to attract mates and fight with other dinosaurs from the same species.

  • As one of the largest herbivores in its ecosystem, It probably shouldn't worry a lot about predators.
